I spent some time learning DS some years ago before moving into IT for the city. I’ve developed an interest in finance lately, however, and I’d like to make a career change…but a lot of big data programs are not being used as much in the financial sector (Hadoop for instance, is apparently totally on the outs). For a career change like I’m interested in making, would I need to drastically improve my DS skills? Could I get by on what I’ve learned years ago and learn new skills while on the job?
