I’ve heard this a lot over the past year, that companies suffer financial losses after taking a (performative) pro-social justice or other political stance in advertising or product design. Gathering data that would either support or disprove this hypothesis would be very difficult as everyone seems to have very strong feelings about politics these days. But has this been addressed anywhere? If I wanted to gather the data for and against myself, how would I ensure that my own biases wouldn’t get in the way?
