Creating a Program that Identifies which Household Appliances Use More than their Fair Share of Energy

I’m not a professional of any sort and I’d like to improve a personal project monitoring and predicting energy use of household appliances. I’m using an ensemble learning mechanism variant of a random forest. While it works okay, it can only predict energy usage by about 65%. How can I improve it?
