Psychological research indicates that all humans can read the emotions of sadness, happiness, fear, anger, surprise, and disgust. Are there any ML programs that can read those emotions properly? I understand that NLP programs can recognize positive, negative, and neutral emotion in writing fairly well and there are some programs that read facial expressions, including micro-facial expressions. But I am wondering about these other universal emotions. Is it a lot harder for AI to recognize disgust than fear?
